New Church presents SHIFT: Small Changes. Big Difference.
LaPorte New Church Swedenborgian, 812 Indiana Avenue, is happily offering to the public its annual 7-week Journey program at Manna House, located adjacent to the church on Maple Avenue, beginning the week of October 3. These small-group evening programs for women will be held once a week on Mondays, 6:30-8:00 and Wednesdays, 7:00-8:30; and for men on Tuesdays, 6:30-8:00. Class leaders are Lori Steinhiser, Natalie Turner, Dwayne Scherb, and Rev. Freeman Schrock.

New Church Journey programs are relevant Bible-based programs to assist people in growing spiritually and applying God's teachings to their everyday lives. This year's Spiritual Growth program, SHIFT, follows the life of Jacob. Participants will study the stories in Genesis about Jacob's struggles and successes while finding practical application for God's teachings in their everyday lives. Participants see his times of deception, frustration, and struggle, as well as his moments of hope, inspiration, and love. At each stage of his journey, Jacob undergoes a shift which brings him a little closer to fulfillment and peace. SHIFT provides an opportunity to examine areas in our own lives that could use a change. Like Jacob, we will eventually look at our lives with astonishment, realizing how much has improved. The program provides a clear approach for study, discussion, and spiritual transformation.

The SHIFT program serves a large variety of people; we all have struggles in our lives, and SHIFT can help make us aware of those problems or offer new ways we can look at them. Whatever problem you are facing, SHIFT can help show you a new way to approach that problem with the Lord's help. All are invited to join this journey.

For more information or to make a reservation for this program, email Lori Steinhiser at loristeinhiser@comcast.net. There is no admission charge for the class; the fee to cover the cost of the workbooks is $21 which may be purchased from the church or may be ordered online. General Program and Manna House information:
All programs are open to those who are seeking, through the Lord, to illumine and enrich their spiritual nature. We respect differences in views, and we accept and value others who have different traditions.

Located directly adjacent to the church, Manna House became a congregational dream in the mid-1990's when the owners, the LaPorte Chapter of the American Red Cross, began their search for a new location. In 2002, that dream became reality when the building was purchased by the church, and much sweat equity and loving labor was invested in restoring it to its beautiful 1890's Arts and Crafts appeal.

Across the street from the Public Library, Manna House, open to all, is now a warm and delightful place to hold meetings or to sit and browse through the many books on spiritual growth that are available on its bookshelves and to hold intriguing discussions.

Manna House programs are hosted by LaPorte New Church as well as by other groups. If interested in programming, either hosting or participating, and visiting the Book Room, please call or email for an appointment (revfreeman1@yahoo.com).

The Manna House Bookroom and Program Center is located at 905 Maple Avenue (adjacent to the church) in LaPorte, IN.
