Health & Spirituality Series, 2nd Wednesdays

NEW CHURCH SERIES ON THE AFTERLIFE AND ANGELS

Everyone is invited to attend the Health & Spirituality community series at LaPorte New Church Swedenborgian, 812 Indiana Avenue, on 2nd Wednesdays. The programs this fall are focusing on our life after death with the next program, November 9, 5:30-7:00 p.m., sharing thoughts and experiences about the angels among us now and their existence in the afterlife. There is open discussion with every presentation.

The faith of the New Church offers a wonderfully uplifting view of the process of dying and of the afterlife. Many different aspects of dying and what the afterlife holds for us will be shared by Rev. Freeman Schrock and guest speakers during these 2nd Wednesday evening programs. We invite you and your friends to come, to listen, and to share views on this subject that is so seldom is talked about but what we all face in our lives, both by feeling the loss of our loved ones and by understanding and planning for our own eternal futures by the conscious choices we make in this life.

Guest speakers for this program are New Church ministers Rev. Jennifer Tafel from Lansing, MI; Rev. Dr. David Fekete from Edmonton, Alberta, CA; Rev. Freeman Schrock, pastor of LaPorte New Church, et al.

Emanuel Swedenborg's view of angels is that they often serve as messengers, and they "generally exert an unseen influence upon us. Broadly speaking, angels of a particular community are sent to people on earth, to watch over them, to lead them away from evil affections and thoughts, and to instill, to the extent that people accept them freely, good affections, thereby governing people’s actions and words by removing evil intentions as far as this is possible." from the book by Swedenborg: Heaven and Hell, 391.

Everyone is always invited to attend this series of monthly programs. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served. Donations are welcome.
